Mission

The Hancock County 911 Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) responsible for answering all 911 calls for the citizens of Hancock County, WV including all citizens within the city of Weirton no matter what county they are in.

Goal

The Hancock County 911 Communications Center’s goal is to provide good customer service by treating each caller and emergency responder with diligence, consideration, and respect.

Telecommunicators

A public safety telecommunicator is a communications professional who performs call taking and dispatching duties. The Hancock County 911 Communications Center employs between 15 and 20 public safety telecommunicators of both full and part-time capacity.

Vital Services

The Hancock County 911 PSAP provides four primary tasks or vital services:

  • Communications with the public.
  • Communications between members of the same agency.
  • Communications between Public Safety Agencies.
  • Communications between Public Safety Agencies and Support Agencies.
